The discovery: A botanical treasure from Turkey
Salvia heldreichiana, a species native to Turkey, was scientifically described by the botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier in 1852. This sage was discovered in the mountainous regions of Turkey, where it thrives in dry and sunny conditions. Its name pays tribute to one of the pioneers of botany, and it is thanks to Boissier that this plant was identified and introduced into European botanical collections.
